My worries
      #13572 - 12/10/00 09:23 PM

Hi there, I have a question that isn't exactly for this board but hope that some of the HIV+ ppl out there can help me with. Are HIV positive people more prone to ulcers because of a weaker immune system, or could they also be due to not eating healthy etc? I am currently waiting out my 6 month test and have ulcers appear every now and then. usually they appear when i bite myself but these have appeared without any aggravation, which has never happened before. Just to recap my situation I had a single vaginal insertion encounter where the condom broke and have been worried ever since. However, I did not have a high fever, yet I think I have a swollen node in my neck, and maybe in my groin. I've seen pictures on the net where nodes due to HIV are as big as gold balls, is this true? Thanks for any replies.

Ulcers are very common in people who are not eating right. It would be very rare to get them that quickly if HIV infection was present.

Jackie is absolutely right. A test right now will allow you a big sigh of relief. Do not let your ulcers go untreated. Good luck and keep us posted! == PVS

In the late 80's, it was discovered that most ulcers are actually caused by a bacteria named Helicobacter pylori. This bacteria can be treated by antibiotics. You may wish to discuss your ulcers with your doctor.
