Completely scared - please help
      #133706 - 01/28/05 10:52 AM

Please help me or give me something to go on here: I gave unprotected oral sex to a man; definitely pre-cum; no ejaculation; lasted about 5 minutes. I have no clue about his HIV status (he stated he was "OK"). Now (25 days later) I have loose bowels; headache, coughing, upset stomach.

I just don't know where to turn anymore and am so sick and afraid. I called the CDC and the person was like a robot spitting out info and scared me to death when she stated, that yes, it could be very well possilble I am infected - anymore questions? thanks good-bye.

Please can ANYONE tell me what is my likeliness that I should worry? I need a human response, not just a text book one.

Thanks for any support or advice.

hey..u hv to relax 1st...i know its easy to say than done...but think abt it...u can't turn back the clock now...only way is to get tested. Go test immed....its still early now but at least if its -ve...its a gd sign. I been thru what u r facing now..I hv tested -ve at 3wks...juz tested again this wk (which is my 9.5wks) with -ve result...try to be positve...i will rate ur case as low risk...and what I hv learnt during this waiting period is that...dun jump to conclusion juz becos we seems to hv ARS..only blood test can tell the conclusion...hope I hv ease u a bit.

I agree. Performing oral sex is considered low risk. The pre-cum would have to get in your bloodstream some way. That could only happen if you had bleeding gums, etc.

Also, almost everyone on this site has had a scare at some time and they will all tell you. Get tested right away. It will put your mind at ease. So get tested today. Not tomorrow or the next day or next week. Today. NY Dept of Health says 4 weeks is conclusive. Mass says 6 weeks. The average is 28 days post exposure.

Remember low risk. It is highly unlikely that you have hiv. It is highly likely that you are stressed which is what is causing your symptoms. Look up stress and anxiety on the internet instead of hiv. GET TESTED.

Actually, I had the same experience. After I had 2 ELISA tests, 2 PCRDNA tests, all of the symptoms, the worst stress --

I went back to the person who I had a high risk activity with, and he tested, and he was negative. So here I am trying to figure out why my gland is hugely swollen, having barked up the wrong tree. Get tested and you'll feel better -- Oral is very low risk.

Chances of you getting HIV from that are very, very small. First of all precum doesn't always have sperm in it. (sperm is what carries hiv virus not precum) Second even if it did your saliva would have killed it. In order to become infected you need to have bleeding gums, recently have had oral surgery, they guy probably needed to have active herpes and i doubt you'd want to go down on someone like that!

if this is bothering you get tested and move on. Chances are you are fine!

First off, your symptoms do NOT sound like ARS. As we all know, headaches can be caused by stress.
Loose bowels paired with upset stomach and headache suggest that maybe you're what we call a "gut reactor," that is, your emotional state is reflected by your GI tract?

(I know I am one. On mornings of lab practicals, wow.. you better stay OUTTA that bathroom.)

Honestly, your risk was so low that I don't even think it warrants testing, but if it will make you feel better, go for it. In order for the semen/pre-ejac to be "absorbed" into your bloodstream through healthy mouth tissue, you'd have to hold a ton of it in your mouth for several minutes, and even then it's iffy. Good luck!
