strip club experience
      #1289 - 04/01/00 12:00 PM

Last week I was at a strip club in Montreal, Canada. My friends and I got a lesbian show from two strippers. Twice during the show one of the strippers rubbed her vagina area and then rubbed it on my face. I als have a moderate case of acne on my face and could possibly have some open places on my face. I have two questions, would a strip club allow Hiv infected women to perform(especially if they were having lesbian shows)? And was my experience something to be worried about? I would apreciate if someone could tell me what they know on this subject, it would be a big help.

Stop right now and look at your face in a mirror. You'll see acne, and you'll see NO OPEN CUTS. If there is a cut, it will be "shut down" literally by dry blood. Your chances of infection of ANYTHING are low. Sure, if you read, you can convince yourself you've got herpes, syphillis, gonorrhea, TB and even HIV. Realistically, your chances of any infection are very, very, VERY low. However, a responsible individual is the one who takes care of himself. If you still experience mental anxiety, go and take a test of all STD's. If they come back negative, then you know that if those, wich are more infectious than HIV didn't infect you, your chances of HIV infection are unrelistical. You don't need an HIV test, however, like I said, for your mental benefit, you may take it.

Good luck

Hey Mike,
Your situation seems similar to mine (read the post "Need some Reassurance"). I am also worried about being infected through acne, but on my back. I have been told my situation is virtually risk free by all the experts I have talked to. But I still worry about it and have been tested and am awaiting the results.

I'll let you in on what the experts told me. Perhaps it will help you.
1)The HIV virus does not survive very long outside of it's host. People have given me ranges from a few seconds to a few minutes. I'm not sure how this affects what happened to you, because I don't know how long after touching her vaginal area the stripper touched your face, but in my case (I am worried about using a shower after a potenitally infected individual) it was definitely more than a "few minutes"
2)Vaginal Fluids (and Semen in my case - the clients at this massage parlour are male) have a unique texture. In my case, I felt an oily substance on my hands and semen doesn't feel like oil. In your case, you should have felt some vaginal fluids on your face if the stripper had any on her hands. I'm not sure if you did.
3)In the rare cases that transmition through broken skin has happened, it was through exposure to large amounts of blood.
4)Overall, the risk of HIV tranmission through a needlestick injury (which is also blood contact) is about 0.3%. Rick Sowadsky of the Transmission Forum on this website said that exposure of an infected bodily fluid to an open would (such as bleeding acne) would be a lower risk than this.

So it looks like you are not at that much of a risk (and I guess I am not either). But, you might be like me, and be really worried nonetheless. Like I said before, I am getting tested just to confirm that I am not infected. Maybe you should do the same if you are still worried.

Hope that helps!
If you have any more questions, write back.
