Can somebody explain this to me is it a STD or is it a definite sign of HIV infection.

Molluscum is not a STD at all. It is a viral skin infection in the pox family. while it is true that sexual partners can transfer it from one to another, that's only because there is skin-to-skin contact (for instance, you can get the flu from a sexual partner, but its not a STD). Molluscum is often common in young children and/or can be picked up from wet towels (say at the gym). To your point, many people with HIV, in fact, have molluscom. But, that's not because its a STD. Its because people with HIV are, well, suspectable to everything (because of their suppressed immune systems).
