HLTV testing, and others? -- Also Chlamydia/HIV?
      #10745 - 10/13/00 03:27 AM

Hello again everyone. It's late and I'm once again speculating about all the horrible things that I could have.

My question is simple though -- does anyone know how to go about testing for HPV (gen. warts -- read that you can get tested for them), Herpes, and HLTV 1/2 (would like to know that I don't have this in addition to not having HIV). These all strike me as the big STDS someone can get. Herpes, Genital Warts, HIV, and HLTV are all incurable... so how can you test for the 3 other than HIV?

Also -- if I have chlamydia (99.9% sure I do, have a clear discharge only when urinating) -- how much greater is my risk for contracting HIV? Let me clarify... I'm a male, had protected vaginal, unprotected oral sex (giving/recieving) with an escort worker. From that single encounter, if the woman had chlamydia (I didn't at the time), how much greater is my risk for also contracting HIV from her if it turns out she had chlamydia as well?

Thanks in advance, you're all great!

There are blood test available for all those std. Symptoms will show up very fast once you contracted. If you have NO symptoms, don't worry for now. If you feel you got chlamydia, go to doctor and get a swab test done to confirm. It is very easy to treat. As far as the chance of getting hiv is concerned, difficult to reply. Get tested to make sure. Whether the chance is high or low is the same because at the end of the day only TEST RESULT will tell. Forget about the chances and go get treated with your chlamydia. I know it is tough for you. You are not alone!!!

Hey SS, spoke to ya last night. I didn't know you thought you had Chlamydia. Anyway, I once caught it 5 years ago .....like you I did have protected vaginal, I also received unprotected oral. Anyway....when I had it, there was a discharge that looked almost like pre-cum.....and it was always there, not just when I was pissing. I doubt an infection like that can increase your chances for contracting HIV. Again, I'm no doctor....but it this infection doesn't produce cuts or lesions. It is easily treated and also very common. Hope this helps. How's the girlfriend?
Best of luck!

Girlfriend is okay, taking her tonight to the airport actually (she's flying to the west coast for work). Actually spent the night with her last night and we felt close enough that we actually slept tight in each other's arms.

Still feeling like crap today though (down on myself, etc.) It doesn't help that I took tests Wed. and Fri. that I have to wait 2 weeks for (wish I wasn't a poor college student and could pay for faster tests! That's what I get for hiring a $300 hooker ;p).

Anyway, the test for chlamydia hurt like you wouldn't believe. Did the urine test Wed., then was told I should do the swab test too.... OUCH! It still hurts to urinate today a little (and it didn't hurt at all before!)

My question though was basically trying to figure out what I can do to make sure I won't pass anything on to my g/f after 6 months if I'm not showing syptoms of herpes or warts (or anything else). Are there doctors that will run a whole range of tests for pretty much anything? (Ie., get tested for HLTV, herpes, warts, etc?) I'm thinking the Loyola Med. Ctr. here in Chicago would be a good place for me to go at 6 months (March 7th, 200!) to get a full suite of tests. I want to be able to have unprotected sex with her again, but keep thinking of all the things I could have that might not show syptoms!

Anyway, am keeping the name. I have to keep reminding myself of how stupid I was to fully appreciate the mess I'm in. Besides, I'm attached to it now...

(Let's refrain from SS btw -- keep thinking of Nazi soldiers anytime someone uses that abbreviation ;p)
