tongue problems

I know that thrush on the tongue is a sign of AIDS, but can anyone tell me what tongue problems exist that are signs of early HIV infection? Thank you.

Sorry, but this is completely untrue.

Thrush can be caused by a number of things, for example, the use of broad-spectrum antibiotics for extended periods of time. Also, thrush does not normally appear on the tongue, but rather the inside of the cheeks or hard/soft palate. Lastly, there are NO tongue problems that are signs of early HIV infection.

you will definitley convince yourself you have hiv
and probably don't.
the only way to be sure is to get tested at 3 months.

The person that posted earlier is partially true. There are no tongue problems that exist with early (or late) hiv infection that are "exclusive" to hiv. They are all things that can occur on their own or due to other viruses, etc.

If you go to the Dr.'s forum on this site, there is a lot of info there. Also, hivdent.com (or hivdent.org) has a whole section on oral manifestations of hiv infection.

Thrush is not an early indicator. Some people have canker sores (apthous ulcers) as a result of the high fever that many get with ARS. Also, it is common to get oral problems when your immune system is working hard at clearing nearly anything from your system. so much bacteria exists in your mouth that a major cold or flu can cause your system to slip a little in keeping up with it.

So, get tested at 12 weeks post-exposure and let it go. You will be fine.

Best of luck.
