Does the flu come like the stomach flu, very quickly with little notice with violent vomiting and aches and pains then diminishing quickly within two days?

I really don't know.....I remember reading that the flu usually last for 1-2 weeks. At the same time this can be a symptom of another illness................why do you it is HIV-related?

I think the HIV flu is more like the typical "flu", achy joints, fever and malaise.

I had protected anal sex with someone then had unprotected sex with a woman a week later. She had a quick stomach flu a month later. I remember having a mild sore throat a couple of weeks before. Then I put it all together and I started to really worry that I had HIV and had infected her. Even though there were about four other people I knew who got the same stomach flu. This has me really freaked out. This flu was violent vomiting, aches, chills and hot flashes and she was back to work in 2.5 days saying she felt fine. I just don't know what to do. Now I'm freaked out.

What you describe sounds much more like stomach flu or food poisoning rather than ARS related flu symptoms.
My infectious disease specialist described it as being very much like the typical flu you get during the winter.... chills, high fever for a while, aches, pains, lethargy, headache, and weakness. While there can be stomach/intestinal symptoms, it doesnt sound like it presents itself in the manner you describe.
Plus, you had protected sex so you should be fine.
Good luck to you.

Please get tested at the appropriate time. Try not to put yourself through all this anguish. Good luck. --PVS
