Your DNA/PCR @ 28 days coupled with your 6/8 wk neg. elisa is conclusive. As far as HIV transmission it seems the more STD's one has the easier HIV seems to take hold. In your case there is nothing to take hold because you were not exposed to HIV. I don't know your risk but consider yourself lucky and stay safe.D.J.

Thanks DJ. My concern was whether the Elisa could pick up antibodeis for both Herpes and HIV at the same time with of reliability and accuracy. I don't know how that woukd work.
Hopefully, you are correct and I wasn't really yexposed to HIV. Do you feel the need for any HIV tests or can I put this behind me a start dealing with the Herpes issue.

I am curious toknow as I prepare for testing, what were your sypmtoms that led you to get tested or what was your exposure?

My exposure was unprotected sex with a sex worker. I will tell you I had every symptom mentioned on this site. The only thing that helped was the DNA/PCR test I took at 4 weeks. I have a strong belief in them. But, if you look for symptoms you will find them. It taks great courage to get tested but you must. Most turn out fine. All the best to to you.
