Hi there, I am new to this forum but have been on a few other similar forums recently. I had vaginal sex with a sex worker on jan 16 2004, for the firts time and the condom broke. Since then i tested out to 21 weeks which came back negative, using the elisa generation 2 assay. since week 17 though i have been getting lots of burning sores in my mouth and especially on my tongue. i am completely distraught and terrified. they look like red patches and a little white around some of the edge. i've seen doctors and a dentist and am using a specail toothpaste at the moment for canker sores, but this morning is worse than ever, with what feels like atleast 12 small lumps in the top of my gums aswell. My doctors here think that only a 6 month test is definitive, one even said 9 months. Is this true? I also want to know where i stand, i mean would these be ARS symptons or symptons on HIV infection and if since i tested negative 4 weeks after these symptons started and tested negative can that gurantee that HIV isn't the cause?? I also go tested for herpes and get the results back at the end of the week. Could herpes do this to my tongue? I think i may have had an outbreak about a year ago on my thigh region but thought it was something else at the time. I am convinced i have HIV every time i look at ly tongue and i don't know what to do. I am also getting weird muscle aches in the back of my calves and sometimes i have blurry vision. could somebody please help me out.

Well congratulations on your MORE than conclusive HIV test(s) up to 21 weeks out. You FOR SURE, not a doubt, no way no how have HIV. Actually an HIV test at 13 weeks is considered conclusive. However, many doctors do not keep up to date on the information related to HIV, so they still are preaching outdated guidelines. It is possible to get herpes from oral sex. It is also possible to get an outbreak around your genitals and the skin in that neighborhood. You would need to get these sores cultured to get a definitive answer to your questions. Blurry vision and body aches can be DIRECTLY related to overwhelming stress. Take care of yourself. Stop worrying about HIV, because it is proven time and again beyond any reasonable doubt that you are N-E-G-A-T-I-V-E!! ;)

Hopefully you got your tests by now for herpes (I was diagnosed with it orally after a sexual experience) I had the spot on my tongue. the only way to know is the test. But congrats on the negative results with HIV dont beat yourself up

Hi, i am sorry to write again but i am really so frightened now. This sore on my tongue is still there and is getting quite painful. I saw a detnist whoe sadi it doesn't look like much but when i saw the dermatologist she said it could look like a rash from hiv. She took a swab test and will take a week to see if it is fungal or not. Then she tells me not to worry! I also get aches in the back of my legs and my vision seems blurry at times. I am on anti depressants at the moment but they aren't working and i feel worse than ever. I tested negative last at 22 weeks and shcheduled another appointment this friday for my 24 week test. I am so sure that i have it now, my tongue really hurts and i don't know what else it could be. I am so down and depressed and can't believe this is happening to me, if i wasn't getting these symptons i would have accepted my results but i just can't when i see what is happening to my body and when i have no other explanation. i really don't know what i am going to do.
