COMMUNITY AFFAIRS MANAGER/LOBBYIST - Minnesota AIDS Project Minnesota AIDS Project seeks a full-time community affairs manager/lobbyist to be part of a mission-driven staff dedicated to stopping the HIV epidemic and enhancing the well being of those affected by HIV. Specific responsibilities include creating public policies and funding resources that support effective education and prevention, access to health care and services, and fair treatment of those affected by HIV. This objective is achieved by creating informed and engaged communities of advocates, and supporting their efforts through research and policy development, education and organizing, lobbying, participation in community planning activities, and media relations and other activities that influence public knowledge and opinion. These activities reach individuals and communities throughout Minnesota.
MAP's community affairs manager/lobbyist needs to have a demonstrated commitment to MAP's mission, a strong background in HIV, and experiences of blending policy and politics. A history of success working with diverse communities and forming community partnerships is also important. The manager will be an articulate spokesperson, effective mentor and trainer, comfortable working in a nuanced environment that also demands high personal and team accountability, and diligent in tending to personnel, nonprofit fundraising and other administrative matters.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
· Knowledge as indicated by a Masters Degree or equivalent experience. · Demonstration of interdisciplinary capacities drawing from at least two years of professional or equivalent experience in public affairs, community development, public relations, communications, marketing and/or related fields. · Experiences in lobbying and working with media and public groups to influence policy decisions and public opinion. · At least two years of professional or equivalent experiences in management and supervision. · A demonstrated capacity to address public health issues, and a specific knowledge about living with HIV.
SALARY RANGE: Salary is competitive; commensurate with skills and experience.
