Commercial projects to fund HIV research?

Hi all out there

,

From my childhood I was wondering about how mankind could boost science/research processes. I was thinking about developing commercial projects/products for direct funding of specific science/research fields.

So now about HIV problem, are there any researches done, or maybe some one thinking to raise funds to make businesses(not to donate it to HIV awareness organizations) with two missions from the beginning to make business move forward and generate maximum revenue and second mission two be funding HIV research labs.

Is this approach used already?

And

What are your thoughts about that?
