Job Summary:
The HIV/AIDS Care, Treatment, and Housing Program (CTHP) within the Bureau of HIV/AIDS Prevention and Control has a vacancy for an Assistant HIV Health Promotion Coordinator. This incumbent will be responsible for assisting in the implementation, coordination, and evaluation of an HIV self-management education workshop for persons newly diagnosed with HIV. The objective of this HIV self-management education workshop is to enable HIV-positive participants to gain the knowledge, motivation, skills, and emotional and practical support to make behavior changes that will improve their health and quality of life.

-- Assist with evaluation activities, providing technical, administrative, and research support for all phases of the evaluation;

-- conduct follow-up with HIV self-management education participants via phone and email to support evaluation and quality assurance activities;

-- oversee data entry; maintain and analyze data using evaluation software; and prepare relevant reports and presentations;

-- facilitate data reporting and collection in accordance to HRSA, DOHMH, and program-specific requirements;

-- manage data collection and reporting in both program-specific and agency-wide data management systems;

-- assist with the preparation of quarterly reports monitoring the progress of all objectives towards short and long-term objectives;

-- organize, oversee, and conduct intake registration interviews and assessments for persons interested in enrolling in the HIV self-management education workshop (s);

-- explain the HIV self-management workshop goals and objectives to persons interested in enrolling in the workshop;

-- create, update, and maintain participant records, ensuring confidentiality in accordance with NYS and Federal law in regards to HIV and Protected Health Information;

-- assist with recruitment strategies to ensure participant enrollment into the HIV self-management education workshop;

-- support the implementation of the HIV self-management workshop as appropriate, including co-facilitation of modules when needed;

-- attend and participate in workshop outreach activities as needed;

-- assist in the coordination of logistics for the HIV self-management education workshop;

-- perform other related work, as assigned by the supervisor.

Preferred Skills:
Excellent written, oral and interpersonal skills; data entry and program evaluation experience; ability to handle multiple and diverse assignments. Candidate must have knowledge of HIV/AIDS, HIV-related community resources, and intake and assessment processes. Experience working with professional staff as well as a diverse population of people living with HIV/AIDS. Prior experience as a case manager, supportive counselor and/or peer counselor/educator. Must have good organization, people and computer skills. Proficiency in Spanish is preferred. Availability to work on weekends if needed.

Experience Required:
For Assignment Level I (only physical, biological and environmental sciences and public health).

A Master's degree from an accredited college or university with a specialization in an appropriate field of physical, biological or environmental science or in public health.

NOTE: NEW YORK CITY RESIDENCY IS REQUIRED WITHIN 90 DAYS OF APPOINTMENT.
