Taking ddi (Videx)? Do you drink alcohol? My Dr. says I should
have no alcohol as it increases the risk of getting pancreatitis.
I continue to have one beer or one gin and tonic after work and
figure I can do this with no harm. It seems sometimes that drs
worry too much and would just as soon remove anything and
everything pleasurable or fun from our lives.
There must be others out there taking ddi and still drinking
alcohol. How about some feedback? Has anyone had pancreatitis
from ddi alone or with alcohol? I understand it can be life
threatening. Should I be more careful? My email address:

Bob,
I was taking DDI for a long time without drinking and had no problems. Then I decided
to have a few beers occasionally thinking that maybe it would be ok to do. But it was
true about DDI and alcohol. I developed pancreatitis and was taken off all meds until this
cleared up (about 3 months). I am now back on my meds minus the DDI, hoping that I
haven't developed resistance. Pancreatitis is painful and potentially deadly. I cherish every
day that I have and could kick myself for almost blowing it for a few beers. Now, if I
could find a way to deal with stress ( I get angry at the drop of a hat these days ), I
would feel even better. Bottom line, DON'T risk it. I won't again.

Hmm, maybe you should question your selfish, childish attitude before criticizing your
doc.... HIV is not fun, and there are certain things that we have to do to ensure that we
stay healthy (and alive!) Grow up and realize that life isn't fair, dude! I think that giving up
smoking, drinking, etc. is a small price to pay to make the meds work with no side effects!
