Just found out I have CMV virus. Symptoms are very strong and debilitating. Dr says there is nothing he can do. Find that hard to believe. Just starting to look for info and HELP. Can anyone help me with places to get real help, not antideppressants

Just find a doc that knows what he is talking about. I would suggest finding an HIV specialist as they see a lot of CMV, and from what I read it is treatable, check out medscape for more info, avoid aidsmyth myth at all costs

If the doctor won't try anything - find another doctor. There is medication that you can use to arrest the progression of the Cytomegalovirus. (i wrote it out because you can use the search engines to get this info and go educated to the doctor.) It is IV meds and has strong side effects but worth trying.....Good luck.

First of all, be sure you are going to the right type of doctor. A general practitioner doesnt see enough cases of CMV to know how to deal with it. Second, make sure that you interpret the context of what the doctor said correctly. CMV is not curable. There are medications, some of them very unpleasant in terms of side effects, that will drive it into dormancy. CMV is herpes related. No herpes infection is ever curable. You can just beat them into submission, but they can always flare up again. Im no doc, so take this "for what it's worth"

PLEASE, find a GOOD doctor, who knows CMV, has dealt with many cases of CMV, and knows how to treat CMV. Any doc who says he or she can't help you is admitting ignorance. But at least they're honest. Find someone with knowledge. There are many of us walking around with varying types and stages of cmv. It can be controllable.
