Has anyone had this happen?
      #5146 - 06/08/00 05:49 PM

Four months ago my rectum began to bleed and became swollen to the point where it keeps me from going to the bathroom on a regular basis. In response to me not going to the bathroom, my appetite has been cut in half and over the course of four months I have lost 15 pounds. My doctor first thought it was hemmoroids and referred me to a specialist where tests were done. They do not know my HIV status. They tell me that I have ulcers inside the rectum, and have given me medication and enemas to take on a daily basis.
I did go for a second opinion and Doctor number two tells me that I have anal warts and that is why i'm bleeding and that it will cost $5,000.00 to treat with laser surgery.
The bleeding, and gas have been going on for four months now, and i'm no better off today then I was on day one when this began. No sex fo four months and my ass is killing me. has anyone had this same problem or do you know of anyone who has?

Genital warts are very common nowadays. Laser surgery is only one of many options for treatment. Talk to your doctor about the others choices you may have. I've gone through the same thing and I'm doing much better. Everything is working properly now. Best of lucks to you my friend.

Actually I have had the same problem for about four months as well but boils and abcests run in my family and I think that, that is the reason for my bleeding problem. I have had to abcests in the past. I think you look into your family history and see what you find. It is a little alarming but I think you'll be okay I have been for the last four months.

I have had this surgery twice, most recently 2 months ago. It was worth the relief. There was slight recurrence 2 years after the first treatment and the recovery period was just as long, but not as painful. You'll be thankful you did. They can treat with a topical and see how you respond.
