I have been diagnosed with lipodystrophy, I have lost a lot of mass on my legs and arms and my stomach is very large in comparison. This seemed to happen overnight. My Dr. completely changed my drug regimen, thinking that my previous regimen was largely the reason for the lipodystrophy. Does anyone know if this can be corrected to any degree and if so what have people done? I'm told there is very little I can do to change this. What have others heard?

Check out the "Living with HIV" Forum. There is a poster there by the name of Babypeanut who has posted about a Yahoo forum that's been setup just to discuss lipodystrophy. I don't know anything about it, but I'm sure you could private message them or check out the forum and see if it helps any.
Good Luck.
Gregg

Lipodystrophy seems to be caused mainly by protease inhibitors...you should get your body back if you are off them. There are tons of materials on this subject: http://www.thebody.com/treat/lipodystrophy.html
You can also ask questions: http://www.thebody.com/Forums/AIDS/Lipodystrophy/
Also there are list serves for lipodystrophy...you have to do a search. I used to be on one...

Although research into HIV/AIDS is expensive, realize that many of the breakthroughs and improved treatments for so many other diseases come from the research into HIV/AIDS.
Another similar situation is all of the daily improvements through the large expense of the space program.
Remember to look at the larger picture, as the splash that you posted does not tell even part of the story.
The "trickle down" to other conditions is substantial, and has allowed breakthroughs that would have been many years in coming. NONE of the other diseases you have mentioned have the same socio-political implications of HIV/AIDS on the world at large.
So, is it waste really? Look at the reality of the situation from a total perspective and what has really occurred. Your posting seems somewhat narrow in scope.

Tell you what I did when my doc said there was NOTHING I could do about it but live with it. Read the book: Built to Survive. It give you more information to deal with your doctor and gives you more information to hlep you take charge of your OWN LIFE. Hope this helps alittle. Being a bodybuilder myself, it's hard to deal with Crixigut.

SO I DECIDE TO START TO TAKE PROTEIN LIKE "DESIGNER PROTEIN AND OTHERS" AND EXERCISING ABS AT HOME. I REALLY FEEL BETTER. MY MASS IS GROWING AND IM GOING TO THE GYM....I STILL TAKING MY MEDS AND TRYING SOME THINGS BY MY SELF....GOOD LUCK
