re:sustiva holiday
      #38704 - 08/23/02 11:18 AM

Hey there
I have been on a drug holiday for just over a year now.I was on sustiva, and combivir. When i went off my meds my viral load was undetectable,t4 count was about 590.Right now ,as of last week,my viral load had dropped back down to 1500 from a high of 16500 that was reached about 4 weeks after the commencment of my holiday, and my t4 count is unchanged..my doctors reaction...you are one lucky guy..he expresses no concern for me going back on meds at the current time. Now,every doctor is different, and everyone is different.I too went off meds to give my body a break and the first few days i actually had withdrawal symptoms and felt like crap but that cleared up.Another reason for the holiday was to give my self a financial break as i am from Ontario canada and work full time but only have to partial perscription coverage and have to go on a drug program here in ontario called Trillium. This program is hell and every piece of paperwork is like filling out an income tax form.
Anyway hope i helped and good luck.
