Violence, media, and gay men
      #3264 - 04/06/00 07:39 PM

I have created a film called -- PARIAH. This film deals with random violence and the havoc it creates on people's lives. The film is a true story about a black and white couple and a gay couple who are attacked by Skinheads and how they handle the aftermath.

In the film,(and in real life) the gay men fight back. It's one of the few times that gay men are shown as masculine and angry. But with all the backlash against violence, this film and many others like it are suffering.

Which is sad and when a filmmaker is trying to actually say something. Especially in light of the fact that violence is down across America and has been for ten years -- unless you are gay or black.

Then it's on the rise.

We must educate, so that the violence will stop.

Any ideas??

It,s good to see a film brought out about gay men not repressing their anger. Their should be more films like this. The verbal and violence towards gays should be stopped now.

The media should play a more active role in portaying gay people as normal functioning human beings. Not always bringing church groups into this or getting there point of view. They always give a negative one and the media deliberately plays on this.

Thanks Shaun and Good Luck
