Gay men who have lived consciously aware of their HIV+ status since at least 1986 are sought to provide their personal experiences—emotional, psychological, spiritual, medical, social, legal, &c.—for a book to document and preserve the experiences of this "gay lost generation." With past focus on gay men dying of AIDS, the present blackout of information about long-term survivors, and the current interest to forget history and move to the next "hot news" groups of infected, we stand the very real risk of losing our collective history and experience.
Interviews may be conducted in writing, online, by audio or videotape, or by in-person visit (when possible). The researcher is himself a long-term survivor of HIV (since 1981),is a survivor of multiple trauma, a long-time grassroots gay historian, a trained academic, and is currently working in the field of traumatology and (gay) men’s issues.
Long-term AIDS survivors is the first study within an overarching project of gay male long-term survivors, working title "Surviving Soul Murder." Further information will be available at http://www.bearhistory.com/currentprojects.htm or the "Current Projects" tab under QuickLinks on the Nashoba Institute (formerly Bear History Project) home page.
Please direct queries, referrals, or availability to be interviewed to: lwright@mountida.edu

hello, i too am a LTS, late 1982, told I was second case in Kansas City, MO by my post test consler, who was first with misdiagnoised Lupis. You can contact me at mdblundell@aol.com, I'm 39 years old and have spent almost my entire adult years Living with AIDS. I've had my share of ups and downs, like everyone in life and lost to many friends to count, but people still don't belive my story when they see me on the street. To others newly diagnosed, NEVER give up, life is full of challeges and lessons. wishing all good health and sunshine filled days!!
