My doc just started me on Abacavir, to replace the Preveon I was taking, in combination
with AZT and Viramune. I don't know much about Abacavir, except what I have found
on Project Inform's site. I would like to hear from anyone else taking this new drup and
what combinations they are using. I'm a little nervous because of the dire warnings they
give you about taking the drug, including asking you to carry a Warning Card with you at
all times that details potential life threatening reactions. I also have only found research
study showing 24 weeks of follow up on naive patients. Very little on those of us who
have tried other combinations already. Any info out there? Please send me email at

For the last 6 months I was on Ziagen...though it didn't seem to work for me in reference
to my blood work...I had no side-effects from the drug. I know a lot of people who are
on the drug....From what I have learned, you should know if something is not right with
the reaction to the drug. Consult with your doctor, let him know if you notice anything
unusual and what effects you are having. Precautions is good thing...fear wont you serve
you..

My doctor just prescribed Ziagen for me last week..
I am taking Norvir, Fortavase(suppose to be, another story) and 3TC also.
I have not heard of anything about wearing a warning label for drug interactions.
So far so good...

I just started on Abacavir as well, now on it for about six days........I can certainly
sympathize with you regarding the scary warnings you get and the warning card....I had
to stop Norvir after 17 months because I just couldn't take the horrible digestive side
effects any more.....I am also on Hydra (HU), virmune, epivir and zerit. So far so
good....no side effects, no nausea, no fever.......GODD LUCK...I hope it works for both
of us!!

I am currently taking Sutiva, Ziagen, and Epivir,and bactrim..This combo has kept me undetectable for THREE years. At first the side effects were really bad from the sustiva but they subsided within a few weeks... If you would like to talk more you can write me at hot_phoenix@hotmail.com.....Take care ...
