Had my last set of labs done...Results were great but is was showing as Not Detected last test but this test came back with a VL of 22...Still great but a little disarming since the "not detected" phrase wasn't there....I was told that a new hiv test is in use that is much more sensitive to detecting not just HIV-1 but many other subroups of hiv as well.....Now to be considered not detected your VL has to be <20copies/ML. Before the cut-off was <48copies/ML.....
Anyone know about this?

As technology becomes more advance I think the days of being "undetectable" are going to fade away. Is this a bad thing, no not really. You are always going to have traces of the virus in your system, its just the nature of the beast.
My understanding is that anything below 100 copies is very good and desirable, anything under 400 is good.
The meds stop rapid and large scale replication, your body helps fight the virus as well, but it never completely eradicates it...if it did you would be cured. There are always going to be a few stragglers running around those dirty rat bastards.
Congratulations on having as few as them as possible! And don't worry about the "undetectable" part. Like I said the day will come when there will be no more "undetectable" thanks to advancements in science. We should come up with a new benchmark phrase like, "marginal" or "barely a flea on a elephant's ass" lol. I think I like that one.

Ehh, some would say its a coping mechanism. I say F'em if they can't take a joke. LOL.
Taking everything serious all the time only causes stress and wrinkles, that's my age defying secret...well that and good genes.
