HIV Doctors in Akron Ohio
      #237220 - 03/07/08 03:58 AM

I have lived in Akron now for a year, In this time, I have visited 1 care center which seems to be run by a woman with a sever problem with the God Complex! I have dealt with many offices and doctors in my 20 yrs of being pos. For some reason in Akron the few HIV specialist whom are able to be seen, all clients have to go through this woman for the care center here in Akron. I have tried reporting to the Board of medicine. The main offices of Summa Health care systems, ect. and have gotten nowhere. at the same token,in speaking with other personel in the hospital I find I'm not the only person having a problem with this woman it's told to me , many employees are having problems with this woman also.
I am now labeled as noncompliant by this clinic! Of course shes placed some paperwork in order to try to back this up! How Do I label this Office as Noncompliant?
I really need to see this through. If not for myself, for the countless who knows how many hiv infected clients this woman pushes back out the door!
My Hopes would be to have this woman removed, and place someone who cares about dealing with people who are trying to live with this man made disease!
In the year that I have lived here, this office has taken blood from me 3 times, and not 1 follow up ! The one time I did see a doctor their, he said he couldnt perscribe medicine because my blood work wasn't current, that was the second set of Blood work done. yet again, no follow up!
I'm now going through waisting syndrome, havent had meds in a year, and now have a fear of these offices, feels like if I don't do exactly as they say, I just wont get any medicine.
Maybe i need a lawyer.

Hey bulldog,
What you have is a clear case of discrimination. You can file an EEO complaint in Washington against this doctor, and believe me, you will see some results. Remember that you have some rights under the law and this doctor is getting paid for her services (wether she is paid by your health insurance or the government, she is getting paid for the service she provides and believe me it is big money). I recomend that you document EVERYTHING (date, time, who did yo talk to and what they said) because you will need that for your case. Your case will be stronger if you have other people willing to testify about it as witnesses. Dont forget that every job has rotten apples and if we dont do anything about it, they will contaminate the good ones, even though that does not hold true everytime. There are good doctors that care for their patients and those are the ones you need to try to find out where they are. I wish you the best of luck and keep us posted about this rotten apple. The number for EEO in Washington is (202) 344-1610. Dont let her get away with murder. What she is doing is not only against the law but it is also unethical. She can easily loose her license. If you dont get any help, write to your congressman, remember this is election year and they can not ignore you. Take care.

This sounds difficult, and not worth it. In time, she will be gone. But you need help, now. Hospital clinics are often more helpful than neighborhood clinics. Akron must have more than one hospital. I never heard of "non-compliant" - or being black-listed, unless you were violent.
I'm in NYC, and I bounce from clinic to clinic. I'm a bit unstable that way, but I have insurance, and I expect the medicine to be good. For the most part, it is.
Good luck.

- If you retain a lawyer, and the clinic finds out, you will never get medical attention there! Unfortunately, people are allowed to say anything they want at work, except for very particular things like race/religious intolerance, and sexual orientation (some states). It is the boss who decides if other opinions are appropriate.
You might try to have a talk with her, and tell her that you are feeling hurt by her words. But that won't change the clinic's poor care for you.

-regards, Sylvester
