sex-drive
      #21835 - 09/03/01 10:21 PM

Hey guys. I guess we are all in this together so we can use this forum to help and support each other. I'm doing Ok, would just like an added boost in the sex-drve department. Do any of you know where i can get androgel through a website? Tried viagra. Is there a cream to apply to the penis for an erection. Also, do any of you find any herbs or supplements helpful in this area. Or is it just a rip-off. What about tribuls? Thanks, Tito

Dude, be VERY wary of herbal remedies, especially if you're on meds. For example, some of the "male potency" and "herbal Viagra" formulas out there contain things like St. John's Wort, which can react severely with meds. Be sure to read labels, do a LOT more research, and don't be afraid to talk to your doctor. I know it can be embarassing, but I had the same talk with my doc and he was most helpful.

Dude, good advice. I'm aware of the st. John's wart interaction. What did your doc say?

The only answer to this question for me is less stress and weightlifting. Otherwise, the drugs take the fun and "lift" out of life. Also, I notice that the usual times are no longer the same and sometimes you take advantage of surprises.
The meds have a tendancy to accumulate, and exercise and plenty of fluids help. Also note that sometimes there is low grade pain that can interfere and NSAID's can help (i.e. Advil, asprin, etc. as dr. recommends). Low grade pain is the kind that you don't really notice, but can cause fatigue, boredom, lack of interest. Remember, it needs exercise too!

Doc said Viagra, and 25 or 50mg works great for me. However, I am not on any other meds, and I've heard V. interacts with some so docs usually prescribe 25mg for guys on meds. I was embarassed because of my age but I was having trouble keeping it up when using condoms so I knew I needed to have this talk with my doc if I was going to have a sex life involving someone besides myself! He said guys of all ages are taking it and it made me a lot more comfortable. I imagine if I had concerns about low testosterone my doctor would pleasantly and professionally answer my questions. I hadn't particuliarly felt open with my doctor before, but the experience put me at ease. And I'm getting laid.

Hey, I had the same problem getting and staying hard with condoms when I first found out I was positive and stated meds. Tho my sex-drive wasn't really decreased I just didn't feel up to what I had been before I found out.

My doctor gave me 50mg Viagra and I used the it for about 6 - 9 months but found over time I didn't need it as much.

I think that a lot of it was mental. I was fine when I was by myself and had no problem getting or staying hard and even could masturbate with a condom on, but put me with another guy and it was overcooked pasta. When you first fine out or start meds there is so much going on in your mind that it's not surprising that your sex drive can decrease or that you can have problems functioning.

I have always had a very open relationship with my doctor and have no problem telling him very openly what is going on with me and problems that I am having and he has always been very receptive to help me deal with them.

I still have my perscription for Viagra and find that I need to use it occasionally. But overall in the last 3 years things have changed quite a bit.

I hope that helps. If you want to talk more to me about it, feel free to e-mail me at gregg629@aol.com

Best of Luck

Gregg

What is the magic bullet? Is there a steroid that could give the same feeling as a testosterone injection? Taken orally and only take rarely?
