Despite overwhelming evidence that the human immunodeficency virus (HIV) causes the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), the notion that HIV is harmless (or does not exist!) continues to find a wide audience in the popular press, with potential negative impact on HIV-infected individuals and their partners, and on public health efforts to control the epidemic. Below, community activists and educators weigh in on the "AIDS dissident" movement. Also included is a link to a National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases (NIAID) website that explains why the global scientific community has concluded that HIV causes AIDS.

If HIV doesn't cause AIDS, then denial surely does. Whether you look at HIV as the gateway to AIDS class diseases or as a direct factor in establishing the link to AIDS, who cares? The net result is still the same. HIV tests at least give a marker to possible manifestation.
Non-progressors are just fortunate for their situation.

That's very interesting. And what have you been doing in the gay community for the last 30 years.. Sleeping?
The reason why there are so many hetrosexual's now becoming infected is because they feel the same way that you do, that it's a gay thing and that they are some how imune.
I was reading the other day on MSNBC that as many as 40% of the people out there that are infected have never been tested and have no idea that they are caring the virus. Most of them are straight and think there's no way they could possibly be infected because they have never had a same sex experience.
For someone who has spent so much time in the gay community you don't learn very well do you.

Thank you for proving my point. The gay "community" has become so toxic that you often get attacked by charcters like greg (whatever). They have no courage to fight the "real" enemy so they attack their own kind. Self hatred comes in many forms and you just proved my point Gregg. Maybe your problem is that you read and believe what newspapers tell you. Just an idea.

Ya its pisses me off because heteros just laught at aids and gays take it so seriously. Aids is just an excuse for religion to hate us and for self-loathing gays to hate themselves. Thats proabbally why so many gays are willing to buy all this "scientific" crap.

My doctor told me that gays get aids from having anal sex adn that it is unatural and so its just god's punishment. He told me thats what most doctors believe.

yeah dude, like my friends also believe that the world is flat and like we are cool and homosexual and so we must be right. and yeah like it's homophobic to believe that the world is round...we also think smoking cigarettes doesn't cause cancer and we do a lot of ghb cause, you know, it is safe. Most cool homosexuals agree with us, don't you?

yeah and my 30 years of living and education says that you need a brain transplant. You got to get out of your little hovel a little more often and talk to doctors TREATING people, talk to nurses TREATING people, talk to RELATIVES of people with HIV! SHame on you for spreading LIES! WHO cares if HIV causes AIDS and if you want to argue some technical point. The TRUTH is that HIV is harmful and can be transmitted sexually! And if your viral load falls continually then it will PROLONG your life to get treatment!
THIS HAS BEEN PROVED! so go spread this nonsense on a board where you don't have educated people, people with real frontline experience.

Right on! These people who don't believe HIV causes AIDS are absurd. THey have nothing to do but post on these boards pretending that there is a conspiracy and that the medical "authorities" are evil and that they are somehow kinder and more knowledgeable then all the AIDS activists and great docs who really are trying hard to help people.

It sounds to me as if your "doctor" received his "medical degree" via a $29.95 Sally Struthers correspondence course advertised on TV at 3AM.
I would do three things:
1) demand to see your "doctor's" medical school diploma.
call the school and verify that he did indeed attend and
graduate.
2) regardless of #1, find a new doctor. If you are HIV+ or -
...doesn't matter
3) report him to the American Medical Assn. Although we are
all entitled to our beliefs, what your doctor has said
to you is out of line, and I would imagine it violates
the oath that he took when he graduated from medical
school..... "First, do no harm..."
