If your CD4 count is low, it's likely you can get shingles again yes.
They stopped returning for me once my counts began to rise.
Early treatment is the best prevention for them.
See your doctor at once.

I was asking this...(sorry I wasnt more explicit)..... if you are having problems with shingles...and your CD4 count is low (+/- 200)....why arent you on the HIV meds (HAART) or whatever? It is my impression that shingles is a skin problem that will continue to affect you until you get on meds and raise your CD4 counts.
You dont know what your Cd4 count is???? I am having a hard time understanding why you are asking about whether shingles is a problem when it seems to me the problem is: not knowing your CD4 count and being afraid to start the meds. Another question: when did you test Positive?
Let us know what you do about this.

dear bear, i know my cd4 of last test was 385 and will be getting my 2nd result tueasday,i will definately ask my dr about this, but in my country, they will only offer haart once cd4 -/= 200.....i am not sure whether i will have to start meds,i know that cd4 raisen will improve but it is all depends on the dr's advice.....thank you for your concern.....sometimes i think that this is my only family because i can't let my family or friends know my status....i have to fight this myself....so everytime when i have problem and worries i will turn to my family here in this forum.....i was tested positive this march.....i'm so depress and worried all the time since then.....i really hope that i can find some comfort here....sometimes i feel gladful that i found this website....thank you, everyone~~~~~~

I'm glad to hear your Tcell (CD4) count was 385 at last testing! I am sorry to hear that you have so little "support" in your country. It is very imprtant to have SOMEONE to talk to about your HIV issues other than your doctor. But you are always welcome to talk to us here. Please let us know what your next tests reveal about your CD4 and Viral Load. In the meantime keep treating the shingles!!!!!!

Bear,
In most of Europe the national health system will not start you on meds until your CD4 count is less than 200.

Charles.....
I understand. But I was confused by his original post in which he says his shingles will not go away and he is afraid that his CD4 count has dropped to below 200. In fact it had not. His CD4 count is 385 or something like that. So he is good to go for awhile I guess.
