HPV POST SURGERY
      #195227 - 06/09/06 01:28 AM

Okay, so I had my surgery last Wednesday(thank the Lord for Anesthesia) May 31. I took Thurs/Fri off, and glad I did they gave me Hydrocodone/Apap and sent me on my way. Since then I have only been eating soup and crackers with an occasional ham sandwich. But OH BOY! This latest spin, which I was constipated AFTER the Dulcolax Stool Softener left me to nothing else but the Dulcolax Laxitive(PAIN PAIN N MORE PAIN) well while checking to see what's going on down there, I notice craters, where the HPV was at. When I say craters, I mean just holes, the blood is dark now from my rectum, I was worried about other yellowish blood but the nurse(my surgeons nurse) said he said everything was normal. I KNOW my body is trying to heal itself. So far this is what I do.
I got to work (half days) 9-2 or 3pm (take some aleve, or Motrin IB)
Get in at about 3pm Take 2 Hydrocodone(which are about to run out tomorrow) and use Preperation H wipes
I am SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad for the PrepH wipes and witch Hazel, it's obviously a good witch. LOL. But these holes leave me to believe my warts were cut out, and the have a BM is a no no. So I have made up in my mind to drink about 3-5 bottled waters a day and other liquids instead of eating until BM's are more tollerable. You can go Months without food but only days without water, so hey. It's painful to have a bm like shards of glass with fire on them coming through the anus. Are there any creams that can assist in the healing process? I mean I'm down to pulling my cheeks apart and hoping no craters any deeper, i'm at a loss, but the less food the better, for me of course.

Hi HP,

If you are referring to anal warts, I had them a few years ago and had them removed by laser surgery, along with haemorrhoids, ending a couple years of excruciating torture.

That was in September of 2003. So far, no sign of them returning.

Hope you heal soon. I *feel* your pain.

Daniel

yes anal warts. I'm just hoping a brutha can feel/heal better next week. I'd rather be constipated then feel this burning. I don't swear, but I' haven't cursed so much in my life (kinda disappointing) but I realize the bile is getting in the cuts that are trying to heal, so I'm going to take a much needed food break and pray they have some stronger meds for me today. Maybe something to numb it up like orajel? THAT'D BE GREAT!

When I was coping with the anal warts, (even as they were beginning to “cluster”) not even Tylenol 3s seemed to help. On top of that my HIV meds make me sometimes incontinent. Not a pretty picture. As a normally non violent person, I often felt like hitting something when it came to pooping time. I managed to contain the obscenities to inside my head tho, most of the time. <grin> So I understand your frustration. Hopefully your post surgery state will improve soon, HP.

what did you eat after the surgery? I had five very bloody bowel movements, just blood yesterday, and late yesterday into this morning runny green diarreah. I hate this up and down but thank the Lord for the healing that is happening indeed, I just wish I wouldn't feel so much pain.

Actually Eric..... in my circle of friends who have HIV/Aids....there is only one person I know who has anal warts. I'm not real sure, but I suspect he had anal warts before he was HIV positive....what about you "Healing Power", are these warts something you developed AFTER becoming HIV positive or did you have them from before??

I beilieve this was something I had before I was HIV Positive. I had messed around with men, for fun, to try things n all. LONG LONG STORY. But I had these problems when I tested negative, but they became more serious(the warts grew HUGE around December or begining of this year). They stopped getting better and got much worse. However now they have been taken care of and I am nervous about what to eat, but I am GONNA TAKE IT LIKE A MAN(except it's exiting) and pray it'll get better. I had GREEN diarreah today? Wussup with that? But otherwise my health is great I will still need back surgery(nothing to do with HIV) an issue I beileve has existed since I was about 17 or 19. But I need to go to a Gastroenteroligist to make sure there is not somehing else more serious. But I WILL NOT have sex without a condom again. Okay back to finding food and possibly a bar to hold on to. LOL. I JUST had this surgery and there are cuts(due to the surgery) and am using prepH wipes, prepH gel, Hydrocodone, Truvada/Sustiva(not for HPV obviously, lol) anything that'll help and I just thank God for the Pain. I just wish there was something to do about it. Oh well. I'll keep you posted like a sticky note!

Sorry I didn't respond sooner HealingPower,

I just don't check in here very often. Living life seems to decide my schedule for me. <wink>

Anyhow, you had asked:

what did you eat after the surgery?

As I recall, I didn't change my diet any, since I really had only mild pain for about a day following laser surgery. Maybe they zapped all the nerve ending in my butt. LOL

Now I live with occasional incontinence, but I'm told that is due more to my meds than the operation.

Hope things settle down for you really soon!

Daniel

PS to Eric: you're not guaranteed this lovely bonus, so you can relax. <grin>

They said my dysplasia is predominantly low grade; however focally moderate dysplasia is identified...
What is Dysplasia? Anyone know. Please tell me! Man I don't think it's good. But I'll also call the doctors, but geez things just don't seem to be looking up! LOL. But I'll put more trust in the Lord then these test results.

Dysplasia is the earliest form of pre-cancerous lesion recognizable in a biopsy by a pathologist. Dysplasia can be low grade or high grade. The risk of low grade dysplasia transforming into high grade dysplasia and, eventually, cancer is low. Treatment is usually easy.

The best known form of dysplasia is the precursor lesions to cervical cancer, called cervical intraepithelial neoplasia (CIN). This lesion is sometimes caused by an infection with the human papilloma virus (HPV). Dysplasia of the cervix is almost always unsuspected by the woman. It is usually discovered by a screening test, the pap smear. The purpose of this test is to diagnose the disease early, while it is still in the dysplasia phase and easy to cure.
