Since my appetite has decreased my Doctor has given me a script for Marinol. It does increase my appetite but I can't control the effects it has on me. I take 2.5 mg three times a day before meals. Sometimes it makes me feel high, sometimes really high, and sometimes nothing at all. It does nothing for nausea, which I have to deal with every once in awhile. Any suggestions on what else I can do to increase my appetite?

Get some marijuana and take one or two puffs. It really works for appetite and stops nasuea. Also start an excercise program and you'll feel hungrier. Frank

A lot of my clients find Marinol is very difficult in terms of controlling the effects it has on them. They also report it does little for nausea. I'm an advocate for smoking a little marijuana when you're feeling nauseous and a couple of puffs an hour before regular meal times can help your appetite. It's unfortunate that most of this country has not realized the very real medical benefits to marijuana use in controlled doses, but if it works for you (and it works for so many others), I say GO FOR IT.

Marinol has never worked for me, except for making me dizzy. The best thing I've taken for appetite (lack of which is my problem) is Megace. It's incredible--and gives you a voracious appetitie. Unfortunately it also occasionally causes drug-induced diabetes.
I've been on Serostim the past 3 months, which helps greatly with weight gain, but not really with appetit
