marijuana
      #1778 - 04/03/00 12:02 PM

Wanted to get opinions. I have done some research (web search,
treatment alternatives, etc.). Am currently taking Marinol and it
does increase my hunger, but it doesn't give me the "buzz" that
smoking marijuana does. I have a few + friends that smoke it daily
and say they it helps them with nausea and increases their hunger.
Would I be doing myself harm if I went off the marinol and smoked
pot exclusively? What do you think?

I tried marinol and hated it--if you control the amount of pot you use
and don't let it get out of hand I think it's ideal. I smoke a little
before I eat and it helps with my appetite. But be careful not to
smoke too much. I take two puffs not more. Carl

I have several clients who tried Marinol and found it difficult if not
impossible to control its effect on them. They find THC in its
natural form much easier to monitor in terms of the level they
achieve. As well, most of them found Marinol did nothing for their
nausea, but did help with the appetite. Most find THC in smoked
form to help very much with the nausea and the appetite both. It's
unfortuante we haven't recognized the medical benefits of THC in
this country, but I say, if it works for you, helps you eat, and stops
the often debilitating nausea from drugs, then GO FOR IT.

I smoke all the time and it does better than Marinol. The problem is
it's so expensive and illegal. I think if you can afford it , go for
it!!!!!!!!!

Please read this very carefully: There is nothing--I repeat:
NOTHING-- wrong with smoking marijuana, especially if there are
medical benefits. There has never been a single death or overdose
due to potsmoking. There has never been a single case of a
potsmoker who didn't smoke tobacco dying of (or even contracting)
lung cancer, mouth cancer, throat cancer, or emphysema. Marijuana
is a completely naturally ocurring plant which has been cultivated
and smoked the world over for millennia. It has been included as a
sacrement in hundreds of religious practices down through the
years. Don't believe anyone who tells you any different. Marijuana
is GOOD.

HI. Smoking Marijuana helps me a lot with my hunger. There is
nothing wrong with smoking it daily. I have heard it also helps with
gag reflexes if you gag on your medecine. So try it.

I took marinol for one week did nothing for me just be careful when smoking I don't use it and never did but I developed a fungus in my lung and my doctor insisted that I
smoked because the leaves somtimes have a fungas on them so because of the virus we are likely to get it in our lungs just be sure to get a chest xray now and then.

good luck sam
