Where to live positively?
      #177172 - 02/25/06 08:39 AM

I was inspired by another posting and wanted to ask where a good place to live is for someone who is HIV+? Someone mentioned Chicago and another Houston. Is Atlanta a good place to go? Any thoughts? Thank you.

Long Beach, California has a beautiful Gay community. (Belmount Shores & Naples area) Lots of businesses, nice restraunts, cafe's, bars, old churches, hotels, the Queen Mary, The Aquarium.. There's lots of beautiful old homes. Lots of history. There's a rocking Gay Pride celebration every year. Oh yeah, the Grand Pree Race goes on too every year. 2nd street in Naples has a nice Christmas Parade too. So, when are you coming? Tell them T'mara sent for you.

Firefly....can I come live with you?????? Seriously though.....I wonder whether we can identify the states/ places where there are good services for HIV poz folks? In previous posts Texas pretty much got trashed. But there was not much information about the great places to live. Does such a list even exist?

Long Beach is great, I used to live and work there in the early 80's. I am in the Phoenix area now. There are great support groups here, orginizations and lots of friendly people. I would imagine that most major cities are also well equipped. Check online about cities you may be interested in on what the city has to offer. Also considerthe climate as well in your search, and check about concerning medical facilities.

I think it would help to know more about your situation. Are you working or on disability. Do you have private insurance for meds or ADAP or Medicare? What sort of financial resources do you have and what is the general state of your health?

I guess we are all looking for the grass is greener on the other side. I think most os us do not think we are better where we are. consider all on the burner before leaping. Coast to coast people are looking fora better place to live.

For what? We all need to find that out. Hopefully we can find out together.

God bless.

Love and all.
