Hi, I've been HIV for a little over 10 years. I'm still in very good health with undetectable viral load over the past year and a half. I'm interested in hearing from others if they've had success with or can suggest non-steroid supplement alternatives to help in rebuilding body lean mass and bulk lost via of anti-HIV drugs such as azt and alpha interferon which I was taking about 9 years ago. A lot of the weight gain/protein powder drinks contain a lot of calories and carbs and seem to go right to the waistline and quite a few of us have already developed the "protease belly."

Possible answers: There are some supplements in the sports supplement field that you can try. You can start by trying creatine monohydrate, l-glutamine, and ion-exchange whey protien - these products added to your diet and combined with weight training will certainly create the right enviroment to add lean muscle mass. If you wish to effect your body on a hormonal level, you can try DHEA with tribulus. All these products can be found at health food shops like GNC and Vitamin World. Again, Imust stress that none of these products will work if you don't add weight training. Good Luck.
