Iyengar Yoga teacher cycles 575 miles for AIDS
      #156934 - 07/07/05 04:13 PM

I believe that World History is a reflection of the thoughts, actions and words, of Human Beings. Therefore, I have chosen to be a positive addition to History. And, I strive to live a non- violent (ahimsa) and empowering way of life.

In June 2005, for my 8th Year, I will participate in an event to benefit the S.F. AIDS Foundation called AIDS Life Cycle #4. Each year, I cycle 575 miles (from San Francisco to Los Angeles). And each year, I complete the ride knowing I did the right thing. This year, as I cycle those 575 miles, I will share my experiences via an audio blog. http://ynottony.com

When I die. I would like to be known as one who "promoted humanity." Therefore, I have decided to contact a prominent Afro American, philanthropist, Oprah Winfrey.

Similar to Tracy Chapman's involvement with AIDS Life Cycle #3 - 2004, the acknowledgement and presence of Oprah Winfrey in AIDS Life Cycle #5 - 2006 would provide indescribable benefits for the success of the AIDS Life Cycle Event, the San Francisco AIDS Foundation, AIDS Awareness, AIDS Education, AIDS Services, and AIDS Research.

"Through the power of media, Oprah Winfrey has created an unparalleled connection with people around the world. As supervising producer and host of the top-rated, award-winning The Oprah Winfrey Show, Oprah Winfrey has entertained, enlightened and uplifted millions of viewers for the past two decades. Oprah Winfrey's accomplishments as a television pioneer, producer, publisher, educator and philanthropist have established Oprah Winfrey as one of the most respected and admired public figures today. "

So help me get the attention of Oprah Winfrey bygoing to this link:
http://www.oprah.com/email/reach/email_showideas.jhtml and placing (cut & paste) the text (below) in the "question and ideas box" and send Oprah Winfrey an email."

It's five minutes that could change the world. The more people that send an email to Oprah Winfrey ...the closer I will get to encouraging her support..

Hello Oprah
Winfrey,

Your philanthropist efforts have not gone in vain. And, I applause your personal achievements. So how about assisting my friend, iyengar yoga teacher, tony eason in his efforts to provide AIDS Awareness, AIDS Services, AIDS Education, and AIDS Treatment to those who need them.

Tony Eason would like the acknowledgement and presence of Oprah Winfrey in AIDS Life Cycle #5 - 2006.

Thank you in advance for your humanitarian and philanthropist efforts, and keep up the "good work"!

P.s.
During this year's 585 mile, 7 day cycling journey to Los Angeles for AIDS Charity, I will be sharing my experiences via a audio, visual, and text journal. Keep your eyes & ears open and click here to experience the journey = http://ynottony1.blogspot.com

RIGHT-ON. a bike ride that far would kill me. be grateful you are healthy enough to do that. I am glad you are doing what you can do. i think if everybody actually did what they could do, this world would be a much happier place. The fact that you are pro-active is very empowering for you and, i am sure, something that keeps you healthy. You are to be commended for your pro-activity. That was a pat on your back or a hug if you will. did you feel it ?? it felt good, huh? Our prayers are with you, man: keep moving forward

Thanks for your kind words ....Yeah ..World History is a reflection of the actions thougts and words of Human Beings. So, yeah, I can't just sit on my ass and watch ! (smile) ...

Every individual is responsible for the way the world turns ....so if you can, send the letter to Oprah Winfrey ...you can find all the information you need at: A Wish list to Oprah Winfrey

Wishing the best of all possible worlds,

Hey guy,

That was very kind. And, I definitely appreciated the "pat on the back," "the hug," and even a kiss (smile).

I agree with you. If everyone would get off the coach and do what they can ...the world would be totally a different place. Yet, most people spend their time taliking about what "other's" should do (while they sit).

We must all remember that ..."World History is a reflection of the actions, thoughts, and words of Human Beings."

I'll keep walking the path .. ...Love to you, tony

Kudos on that amazing journy!! I was a Roadie for LifeCycle 3 and before that I've ridden and/or crewed in what's now 15 such events!
I started when I was doing chemo and saw an story about the AIDS Rides starting in Chicago and decided to challenge myself.
With cather in place, I registed to be on the 1st Twin Cities >Chicago AIDS Ride and have been riding since.

The reason I was a Rodie for Life Cycle 3 is due to Bob Katz of Team Pos Peddlers who knows I have a few bikes in my "stable" and when a rider who was on holiday stopping in Chicago wanted someone to do a training ride with, I jumped in.

Although I had been traininig and fundraising for a differant ride at the same time, I wanted to get to Califorina and see how that riide went.

Getting back to Chicago after watching 2000 cyclists, I jumped onto one of my bikes that s too small for me and shot off to a BBQ with some friends, En route I turnned too sharp and got a hip and rib fracture (ouch).

My next personal challange then was to register for the Gay Games in all the cycle events!!
Seeing no speciic resources Team Plus for all Gay Games participants was born (www.teamplus.4t.com).

Despite painful nueopothy (sic) in my feet, ride almost daily and have gone from a long distance rider to real bicycle racer wth a real avearge speed of 18 to 22mph.

While on the ACT III RIde around Madison WI, I came up with a poem that speaks of my commitment to doing all these rides.

Within the poem, I mention the places I've been blessed to ride through or be a part of.

I Will Act

Today, as through all life’s cycles, I will act to stop this pandemic.

I move with hope, love and compassion to raise awareness, consciousness and funds.
From Canada, the Heartland to the California Coast, I will ride on or crew until I cannot.

For those who are not able to be with us or have left us, I will act on their behalf.
Whether on long, dry and lonely roads through cornfields, snowy mountains, piercing sun or gravel trails and dusty trails:
I will sit tall in my saddle as long as I can
As far as I can
As long as God will let me
until AIDS is only a memory
and until all our tears of sorrow flow into rivers of joy.

I will act with passion.
