The Body's Bulletin Board Rules (please read before you register!)
Finding out you or someone you care about is infected with HIV is an intensely traumatic moment, and everyone deals with it differently. But if you should know one thing it is that you are not alone. More than 42 million people, in varying circumstances, and in nearly every country on Earth, share this illness. And each of these people has a circle of people affected by his or her illness -- parents, siblings, relatives, friends, or partners.

The Body exists so that people affected by HIV/AIDS, and people who are concerned they may have recently become infected, never have to feel alone. The Internet is an incredible resource -- use it! You'll meet people here from around the world. It's a place to find friends, share your feelings, express your anger, ask advice or offer your help.

Besides the standard bulletin board rules (please don't flame, personally insult, spam, troll or otherwise malign these boards or their users), one other point is important to note: These boards are for talking about life with (or concerns about) HIV and AIDS, not for a discussion about whether either actually exists.

If you don't believe in HIV or don't believe that HIV causes AIDS, that's OK, but please don't plaster our boards with your materials. The people using these boards have already accepted scientific fact regarding the existence of HIV and AIDS; it's not a matter of debate here, so if you're looking for a fight, look for it elsewhere.

Beyond that, the most important things to remember when using these boards are to be yourself, be open, be honest, be understanding and compassionate toward others, and always follow the Golden Rule before you post. Don't dish out what you can't take, and treat other users with the kindness you'd have them treat you.

Finally, remember that the people on these boards are not medical experts. If you need immediate medical advice, talk to your doctor, visit our "Ask the Experts" forums, or call an HIV/AIDS hotline near you.

I agree to abide by these rules.
