Rabbi J.B. Sacks-Rosen
Rabbi J.B. Sacks-Rosen is the spiritual leader of Congregation Shaarei Torah in Arcadia, California. He was one of the founders and served as the first convener of the AIDS Interfaith Network of New Jersey. Rabbi Sacks-Rosen
served for many years on the spiritual support team of the New Jersey
buddies. He is the co-editor of Ka-afikim BaNegev: A Manual for Rabbis to
Engage Their Communities in Embracing Lesbian and Gay Jews and A Liberation
Haggadah for Lesbian, Gay and Bisexual Jews and Their Loved Ones. He serves
on the Bioethics Committee of the Arcadia Methodist Hospital and is a member
of the Arcadia Interfaith Action Group.
Rabbi Sacks-Rosen has long been involved with AIDS issues, gender issues and
sexual orientation issues, especially within the Conservative Movement of
Judaism. He has done caretaking for a number of HIV positive people, including his life companion, Mel.
He is currently a candidate for the degree of Doctor of Ministry at Claremont
School of Theology in Claremont, California.
