Alvan Fisher, M.D.
He received his B.A. from Brandeis University and his medical degree from the University of Vermont. Dr. Fisher completed a residency in Internal Medicine at Rhode Island Hospital in Providence and a fellowship in Infectious Diseases at Brown University. Dr. Fisher is the recipient of the teaching excellence award from the Rhode Island Hospital Department of Medicine and has been cited three times by Rhode Island Monthly as one of the "Top Doctors" in Rhode Island. He is a member of numerous professional organizations including the International AIDS Society (IAS), Physicians Association for AIDS Care and Infectious Diseases Society of America (IDSA). He is also a founding board member of AIDS Project Rhode Island and previously served on the board of the AIDS Action Foundation, Washington, DC. Dr. Fisher is the author or co-author of dozens of publications and abstracts concerning clinical manifestations of HIV infection and AIDS. In addition, he has presented research on HIV/AIDS at numerous national and international scientific conferences. |
