 Your question doesn't specify what kind of discrimination you're thinking of, or your state, so here's a general answer: your local AIDS service organization can tell you about state and local laws concerning AIDS discrimination in your area. The federal law enacted in 1990, the Americans with Disabilities Act, makes discrimination based on known or presumed HIV status illegal in two places: the workplace and in public accommodations (hotels, restaurants, airlines, trains, stores, etc.). If your question concerns either of these two kinds of places, please write back and let us know more about your specific concern. If it concerns housing or something outside the reach of the ADA, please contact your local AIDS service organization for referral to an attorney who specializes in discrimination against people with HIV or AIDS.
