|Do you have a disability?
Jan 28, 2000
I will soon be applying for a job, and as I recall many applications will ask if you have a disability. How can I answer this question, as I do have a disability (hiv) but am not disabled. I don't want to risk losing this job opportunity by being honest.
Response from Ms. Gabriel
Please check the wording on the application. Most job applications ask if you have a disability that would prevent you from completing the essential functions of the job. If you do not currently have any limitations the answer would be no. If, at a later date, you request reasonable accommodation because your health circumstances have changed, you are within your rights.
Please understand that when applying for a job, you are under no obligation to disclose your HIV status. Good luck on your job search!
