plese tell me if there are any "documented" cases of AIDS being transmitted to a healthy person ( me ) from someone who is positive--I had a 1-day old cut on my hand when we shook hands just once--so although it had not bled for 24 hours-I remain very worried...thank-you very much.

It's time to replace worry with information. Twenty years into the epidemic, there aren't any documented cases from handshakes. There aren't even any "undocumented" ones. Did you shake hands with a person whose hands were actively bleeding? Who had semen or vaginal fluids or breast milk all over the hands? I didn't think so.
Two suggestions: either at this site or at another, learn by heart the ways HIV can be transmitted. Learn them well enough to be able to teach someone else. There is no reason to put yourself through this worry. Second, when you have a cut, cover it with a Band-Aid. Problem solved.
