|HIV working in medical field
Jun 16, 2015
I am an HIV positive undetectable male who is starting medical assistant school this week what I be able to get a job based on my HIV status and what is blind invasive procedure
Response from Mr. Chambers
You will need to ask a physician about blind invasive procedures. I found nothing.
Re working in the medical field while HIV+, enough is known now about the transmission of HIV, that working in the medical field should no longer be a problem. Also HIV+ persons are protected by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which includes a prohibition on not hiring someone with a medical condition as long as they can perform their job.
That said, there is still a lot of misunderstandings and prejudice around HIV, so do not discuss any medical issues prior to a firm job offer other than, "I am able to perform all the duties of this position."
