HIV and Federal drug test Jan 21, 2012 I have been getting tentative offers of employment with federal service. Im HIV positive and take combivir and sustiva. I have been getting allot of "we have selected another candidate" after the initial drug test. I have always passed employment drug test prior to becoming infected. is the HIV medication causing this? and should they call me if they receive a positive results to see what medication im am taking before disqualifying me. there is never a space for list of medications. |

 Good question-I have written many letters on behalf of patients stating that they are taking a prescription medication that can cause a false positive test for marijuana--they should let you know if you had a positive urine drug test--any other comments from readers would be appreciated.
