| Employer Carry Insurance for short term disability May 19, 2011 Do I have to pay cobra if I am on disability for one year and then able to return to work. Also can they lay me off because of this? |

Response from Ms. Franzoi
It depends on how your employer handles medical coverage when an employee goes out on disability. If the employer does not continue your coverage under the health plan when you go out on disability, you would have to take COBRA to get medical coverage. | |||
