|What are an employee"s rights with a self insured company?
Nov 2, 2010
A family member has cancer and works for a hospital that is self insured. We beleive she should have a second opinion but they have stated if she goes outside of the network she is on her own for her entire treatment. Is this legal? Does she have the right to a second opinion? and can they force her to stay within the network if there is only one oncologist in the network?
Response from Ms. Franzoi
Check with the plan summary. The plan must have an in and out of network benefit What coverage you have when you go out-of-network depends on the terms of the plan.
Employer changing insurance plans.
