Jul 24, 2009

I had sex wit a sexworker before 13 years. I dont have any symptoms of HIV but always hunting of tension after reading these medical sites. Recently I did few tests like STDs & found all non reactive. I also did Blood CPC where I found my Haemoglobin - 15.0 g/d, Total RBC- 5.3 X 10 12/L, WBC- 6.0X10 0/L , Neutrophilis- 62%, Lymphocytes- 35%, Total Platelets - 170 X 10 9/L. My HBsAg found Negative (By Elisa Method). Please let me know whether I am free from HIV or not ? Try to tell from these result mere answering to go for HIV test. I am really afraid of doing that test. ................................................................... Richard from Singapore

Response from Dr. Frascino

Hello Richard from Singapore,

Whether or not you are "really afraid," the only way to determine your HIV status is to get an HIV specific test. Your other test results are normal, but they do not eliminate the possibility of your being HIV infected. Richard, it's time to man-up, grow a set and do what you know needs to be done. Get tested. It really is just that straightforward.
