|Staying insured after job change

I'm considering a new position with a small non-profit which does not offer insurance benefits for employees. I am currently insured, only recently diagnosed and healthy, but my diagnosis is on record.
What are my options in this case? Would I be able to supply my own insurance at any point or am I written off before I even apply?

Asuming your current empployer is large enough to be rquired to offer COBRA, you should elect COBRA coverage. Once COBRA coverage ends, you could apply for an individual policy and as long as you complete the full COBRA and do not have a break in coverage of greater than 63 days, any insurer offering individual plans would have to extend a policy to you. If not inusrable under a standard policy, you would be eligible for a HIPAA plan.
