Life Insurane
Dec 11, 2007

What are the stipulations in determining life expectancy when trying to get accelerated or viatical life insurance benefits. I have a group life insurance policy with at&t and on the accelerated benifits they require death between 12 & 24 months. What determines this?

Response from Ms. Franzoi

I think what the policy requires is that based on your medical condition, it is determined by the medical community that you have less than 24 months to live. This is part of the underwriting on the policy. Most viaticals require either a 12 month or a 24 month prognosis in order for an individual to qualify to sell his coverage.
