HIPAA?
Aug 16, 2007

Good Day,

I read your definition of what a HIPAA insurance policy is and that you can apply to an individual insurance carrier for that when COBRA runs out. What I don't understand, however, is how that benefits you if you are HIV+ and taking medication. Does the individual insurance plan have to cover your medication, lab work, and doctor visits?

Response from Ms. Franzoi

It dependss on the plan/policy. Every plan will be different. You need to review the terms of the policy to determine the level of coverage for prescriptions, any limitations or maximums on benefits, etc.
