Life Insurance after HIV Diagnosis
Jan 5, 2007

I purchased a Life insurance policy in November of 2004 and found out about my HIV infection in January of 2005. If I were to die of an HIV related illness, will my beneficiaries be denied the payment of the policy?

Response from Ms. Franzoi

You don't have to worry about this. Since your liffe insurance coverage was in place prior to you learning of your HIV status, it is valid and the death benefit will be there for your beneficiaries. An insurance company would only deny the benefit if you had obtained the coverage through false answers to the medical questions.
