Why does HIPAA exclude those who were covered under individaul policies?
I moved from California to Texas and have been trying to convert my California BCBS policy to a Texas policy but keep getting the run around.
Now I find out that my individual policy does not entitleme to HIPAA protection.
Response from Ms. Franzoi
Under the statutory and regulatory provisions of HIPAA, it only applies to group health plans. I suggest you contact an insurance broker in Texas to find out what options might be available to you.
