I receive Medicare-Medi-Cal (California). I have heard and now received notice that my drugs wil be paid for by Medicare. That I will be assigned or will have to select a HMO. I would like to keep my current Drs. who are familiar with my history and therapies. How do I get direction toward which HMO to choose.

Medicare through the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will be coming out with information on what is available in specific areas. Medicare Part D will be effective January 1, 2006. You can get more information from the website which is www.medicare.gov or by calling 1.800.633.4227. Since you currently have Medi-Cal, you might be eligible for financial assistance in paying for the prescription drug coverage under Medicare Part D.
