| Life Insurance and new HIV+ diagnosis Jul 18, 2005 I currently have a life insurance policy through my employer. I am a teacher and with this most recent Open Enrollment period, I applied for an increase in my group term life insurance. I recently received a Statement of Health form in the mail asking for medical information and what-not. I was diagnosed as HIV+ AFTER I was initially hired and purchased the life insurance. My question is, now that I am HIV+, will my indicating that on this Statement of Health form cause me to lose my life insurance altogether? I am assuming that they will not grant me the increase due to my diagnosis but I would, of course, prefer to just go back to my original policy benefits than lose it altogether. Can they cancel my life insurance policy once I indicate that I am no HIV+? Thanks, Mike |

Response from Ms. Franzoi
They won't be able to cancel your existing coverage. However, they can deny you an increase in your coverage | |||||||||
