|Insurance: Some states better than others?
Mar 3, 2004
I am 44 and HIV+ and very healthy. Would love to start my own business, perhaps with my parnter. We live in Washigton, DC, and are considering moving to California or Florida in a few years. My partner is negative. Is there a huge difference among the states in terms of getting AFFORDABLE health insurance and being HIV+? California? Florida? DC? Who can help me with this -- what type of expert? Attorney? An organization?
Response from Ms. Franzoi
Most insurance companies offer coverage across the country. So I don't think one state is going to necessarily be more affordable than another. I would suggest that you contact a Blue Cross or Blue Shield insurance agent who could advise you what coverage would be available and at what cost. Cost typically varies by zip code as do hospital and doctors fees.
